Say hello to Dylan, our new Web Developer

The labs are happy to introduce our newest addition to the research and development team, Dylan.

Our new Web Developer, Dylan

Dylan hails from Seattle, Washington, where he spent most of his time in Belltown blowing glass swords, vessels, and jewelry at Seattle Glassblowing Studio. In the technology sector, Dylan was most recently a freelance web designer for companies like Anakan GmbH, where he managed all aspects of their web development — from graphic design to content creation to styling and back again. (You can find some examples of his previous work at the ArtServ site, home of his freelance design firm.) He is a graduate of California College of the Arts, where he studied media arts; he also did an independent study at Universität de Künste Berlin in 2007, where he focused on subjects ranging from documentary filmmaking to philosophy. We’re excited to have a man of such manifold talents on our team here at the labs.

“I was eager to expand my knowledge and experience, and sociomantic labs seemed like the best place to do that,” says Dylan of his new position.

The Fun Facts:

Outside of the labs, Dylan’s spends his time diversely: turf dancing, VJing (at places like Golden Gate and Maria), and putting together interactive installations in spaces like Spielraum and Solar (see below). He grew up with a billiard table and prefers 8-ball speed pool to the other billiard variants. He’s a big movie fan (one of his favorites is Paper Moon) and also a lover of Haribo gummies. In fact, Dylan loves them so much that he’s building a web app called Hariwo (Haribo + “wo,” German for “where”) that will use the Google maps API to tell gummy lovers where they can find the gelatinous treats throughout the city. Also forthcoming is Dylan’s blog dedicated to his love for adidas Originals kicks; we’ll be sure to keep you posted on the launch.

Phew! We’re worn out just writing about all these awesome projects. Glad to have such an energetic guy on team sociomantic. Welcome aboard, Dylan!
