Marketing Club Stammtisch overview; Maciej video for adStandard conference

Yesterday was the Junioren im Marketing Club Berlin Stammtisch over at the Volksbar here in Mitte. This was an informal gathering — no power point presentations were used. Instead, we just came together to talk about topics such as careers in online marketing, typical employers in our industry, the different online marketing channels as well as their advantages and disadvantages, and new trends in online marketing. Of course I talked a bit about social targeting and real-time bidding, and how these types of technologies are changing the world of display advertising in a big way. read more

A few weeks ago, the New York Times insert of the Süddeutsche Zeitung ran a set of features under the theme “Exploiting the Deluge of Data” – naturally a headline that caught our attention. Of particular interest to me was an article by Graham Bowley called “Speed is Money As Cyber Muscle Overruns Markets,” which explores the growth of high frequency trading in stock exchanges around the world. Online Marketing Rockstars 2011 Review

Friday’s Online Marketing Rockstars conference was a great event with a schedule full of true online marketing experts. One presentation that stood out in particular for us came from Christian Müller of adyard on the topic of “Display 2.0.” Here Christian outlined the changes that are overtaking the display advertising market, and at the end introduced a topic that is very near and dear to sociomantic: real-time bidding (RTB). Many people were unfamiliar with the topic of RTB, so this was a welcome segue to my presentation about our particular expertise: social targeting via real-time bidding. read more
